Information About Recycling

  • Base housing has curbside recycling pickup through Papillion Sanitation. Check with your property manager for details.
  • There are places that you can drop off items. Here are the two closest places that will accept auto parts, furniture, appliances, glass, plastics, aerosol cans, cardboard, newspapers, and many more items:

  • Under The Sink is a waste facility owned and operated by the city of Omaha for the residents of Douglas and Sarpy Counties. They take many household hazardous wastes including rechargeable batteries. They are a great resource.444-sink www.underthesink.org
  • There are a few companies in the area that will accept electronic equipment such as computers, stereos, etc. Charges for recycling will likely apply. Please call to make arrangements BEFORE delivering your material for recycling. One company is:
    • CP Recovery 402-331-1630 7534 "F" Street Omaha, NE 68127. They also accept Polyurethane foam and scrap carpet.
  • The recycle (transfer) center on base will accept scrap metal.
  • Used motor oil should be taken to an auto parts store such as Advanced Auto Parts, AutoZone, or O’Reilly Auto Parts. They will take it at no charge and recycle it.
  • The Environmental Office will accept lead-acid, nickel-cadmium, mercury, and many lithium batteries for recycling. Please contact George Sachs (294-4087) for details.
  • Alkaline (single-use) batteries are classified by the federal government as non-hazardous waste and can be thrown in the garbage.
  • The CES/Environmental Flight is physically located in Building D near entrance 2 on the 2nd floor (above the Envision store). Anyone in the office can assist with providing containers for plastic, aluminum cans, glass, or paper recycling. Please call 294-4087 or 294-7621.
